TERRY VENABLES celebrated victory yesterday in his campaign to boost Euro `96 squad sizes to 22 players and then declared: "I'd rather have 23."
The England coach, backed by his Scotland counterpart Craig Brown, has orchestrated Europe-wide pressure after UEFA originally set the limit at 20 for this summer's finals.
But with one of the extra places allocated to a third goalkeeper, Venables is still not satisfied. "I'm very, very pleased to get the extra player but I'd like another," he said last night.
"I would have liked to have had 22 players with two goalkeepers and one on stand-by, or 23 players including the extra goalkeeper, so that you have two players for each outfield position."
