Uni Limerick 3-9 St Pat's TC 0-10: UNIVERSITY OF Limerick, runners-up in 2009, registered an opening-round win over St Patrick's, Drumcondra, at Plassey yesterday.
UL’s three goals – courtesy of Thomas Connors and Shane Dooley in the first-half and Matt Ruth nine minutes from time – offset the marvellous scoring contribution made by the St Patrick’s centre forward Marcus Ó hAitrigín, who had a total of seven points and proved a handful for UL’s John Devane of Tipperary.
Ruth’s goal fired UL into a five-point lead heading into the final quarter and the Limerick men were untroubled from then on.
