Ulster, for the 14th year in succession, won the Vera McWeeney cup as winners of the women's under-21 interprovincial hockey tournament which drew to a close at the Regional sports centre in Galway yesterday.
They completed their four-match programme with a 100 per cent record of success having defeated Leinster, Munster, South East and Connacht.
Leinster's sole defeat was at the hands of Ulster due to a goal from Helen Carthcart (Enniskillen) on 14 minutes. The runners-up overcame Connacht 1-0 after a Dawn Kelly (Hermes) goal.
