Ulster failed to rise to the occasion in Saturday's dismal offering at Ravenhill

Ulster failed to rise to the occasion in Saturday's dismal offering at Ravenhill. Brive, for the most part, controlled this match with quiet authority.

Ulster led 6-5 at half-time through a penalty and drop goal from outhalf David Humphreys. Brive's try came just before half time when busy number eight Francois Du Boisset used his strength to force his way over the line.

Brive proceeded to totally dominate on the resumption. Ulster conceded a second try when flying winger Sebastian Carrat was put in the clear following a short penalty and used his pace to beat the cover. Full-back David Venditti added the points.

Repeated attempts by the Ulster backs to breach the Brive line were thwarted and Sebastian Viars sped clear to snap up a try for Brive in the closing stages.
