RUGBY COLOURS MATCH:UCD 28 Dublin University 8
UCD TOOK the points and the bragging rights from a tussle that doubled up as AIL Division Two fare and the 58th annual Colours match at Donnybrook last night.
Quick tries from centre Andrew Cummiskey and wing Tom Fletcher set the tone for a fast-paced, attack-oriented tie as UCD led 14-3 by the seventh minute. It looked like getting interesting when Trinity blindside Alan Mathews evaded heavy hits in a twisting, turning drive to the line. UCD outhalf Niall Earls had other ideas, landing two penalties and a drop goal before the break.
Fletcher latched on to scrumhalf Michael McLoughlin’s chip at the end of the third quarter. It was enough to bringthem level on points with Trinity in the league.
