UCD opened their account in the student's European Cup yesterday in convincing fashion with a 60-24 win over Exeter University. The game, played in Belfield, was essentially one-way with college leading 45-0 at the break before initiating a raft of second-half substitutions.
Pick of the scores came from out half Brian O'Driscoll, who made an outside break in the UCD half, then took on the Exeter wing before chipping ahead and gathering for an eye-catching try.
A fine performance from fullback Phillip Bredin also helped UCD find their form before Friday's final match of the pool when they face French University Toulouse again in the Belfield Bowl.
