GAELIC GAMES/All-Ireland SFC semi-final: Peter Canavan has been dropped again from the Tyrone team to face Ulster champions Armagh in Sunday's All-Ireland football semi-final at Croke Park.
The 2003 All-Ireland winning captain had been selected for last weekend's quarter-final replay against Dublin but had to withdraw with a stomach upset before the match started.
He has recovered but manager Mickey Harte has decided to keep the veteran forward in reserve.
Otherwise Tyrone make one change in personnel to the team that started against Dublin but a number of significant positional switches.
Brian Meenan is selected at centrefield for what will be his first start of the championship and partners Seán Cavanagh in yet another pairing in the middle for the versatile team.
Cavanagh has been playing very well as a wing forward in recent matches and it would be a surprise were he not to switch with Enda McGinley at some stage of proceedings on Sunday.
Tyrone also field a new fullback with Joe McMahon moving from centrefield to the edge of the square, with Meenan taking his place in the middle.
McMahon has made a good impression in the Dublin matches, helping out at centrefield despite most of his appearances up until then having come in defence.
The one change in personnel sees Chris Lawn giving way to Meenan, whose selection is the biggest surprise.
He has little championship football under his belt this season, having made brief substitute appearances against Monaghan and in the replay against Dublin.
Meanwhile, Dublin centrefielder Ciarán Whelan has announced that he won't be available for the International Rules tour to Australia next month.
Whelan, who starred in some of the earlier series but hasn't played recently, is staying at home, as his wife is expecting their first child in November.
He was named in manager Peter McGrath's preliminary training panel this week.
Meath will select a successor to Seán Boylan at Monday night's meeting of the county board. There are now three remaining candidates, Eamonn Barry, Paddy Carr and Benny Reddy. Barry is the firm favourite for the post.
Paudie Butler has stepped down as manager of the Laois hurlers.
The Tipperary man has been successful in keeping the county in Division One of the National League and this summer Laois preserved their MacCarthy Cup status after the All-Ireland qualifier series.
Wexford have named the team to play Tipperary in Sunday's Tommy Murphy Cup final also at Croke Park. Current All Star Matty Forde lines out at left corner forward and has announced he has withdrawn from the county's intermediate hurling final against Galway in Portlaoise tomorrow at 3.30pm.
The hurling team to play Galway won't be announced until after training tonight.
Meanwhile, the GAA have confirmed tickets for Sunday's Armagh-Tyrone match are available from county boards and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
The GAA ticket office at the rear of the Cusack Stand will also be selling tickets for these games today (from 11am to 7pm) and tomorrow from 11am to 5.30pm while stocks last.
A limited number of family tickets are still available for the Canal End (Adult €40; €5 per accompanied child). Students and senior citizens who buy their tickets to the Cusack or Canal End Stands only at full price will receive a refund of €25 before entry to the stadium on production of current valid photographic ID (student card must have expiry date) from turnstiles at Block D of the Cusack Stand only.
