Trinity - with Michael Harte back in midfield following under-21 international duty, and having called Ronan Gormley into service - were the dominant side in the Mauritius Cup final at Belfield yesterday but UCD's resolute resistance was broken only by a goal scored six minutes after half-time by Ross Cullen.

Cullen got the winning snick to a cross from his captain Christian Judd who, with Gareth Hinds, kept Shane Davey and his fellow UCD defenders fully stretched.

Rallied from the back by Robin Willis, UCD managed to keep the issue open to the final hooter but they missed their attacking spearhead, Stephen Tilson, out of action with a shoulder injury.

The most invigorating game in the Leinster Senior League tomorrow is bound to be at Serpentine Avenue where - in a clash of the two sides in second place behind Glenanne - Pembroke Wanderers take on Corinthians in their first meeting since the Mills Cup final last April when Pembroke won 4-3.

The teams, featuring the Henderson goalkeeping brothers, Nigel and Charlie, in opposition, remain finely matched. The absence, though, of Justin Sherriff may mean that Charlie will be less occupied between the visitors' posts than Nigel, who faces the greater firepower of Corinthians' overseas contingent.

Nevertheless, title holders Pembroke will remain determined not to lose any more ground before Christmas after their recent eclipse by Glenanne who, with Ciaran Bolger giving much depth to the defence, are the only unbeaten side.

In the meantime, Glenanne can reinforce their position with a home win against Aer Lingus, whose leading players may be short of energy after their exertions for DCU in the Mauritius Cup.

Simarly, both Trinity and UCD will have tired limbs for the visits of Monkstown and YMCA, respectively.

Avoca and Three Rock Rovers - both of whom are beginning to pick up steam - meet at Rathdown in search of more comfortable standings in the table. The return of Dan Bolger and Enda Gallanagh has boosted Avoca's attacking capabilities.
