In a very entertaining game at Portlaoise, St Patrick's, Navan turned in a fine performance to overcome Good Counsel of Wexford.
Three great tries from full back Philip Tracey, two of which were converted by Brian McCormack, put St Patrick's ahead 19-0 at the interval. In the second half tries from Sean Furlong and captain Greg Conway reduced the gap to just nine points. However, failure to convert cost them dearly as Tracey completed an admirable afternoon in notching his side's fourth try.
