Seldom has an outhalf been dropped for the next match after breaking his country's points record for a debutant but Gordon Ross suffered that fate yesterday. Ross kicked 23 points for Scotland against Tonga last weekend but steps down for Gregor Townsend tomorrow (k.o. 3 p.m.).
Townsend will also assume the kicking duties despite been replaced as goalkicker by Chris Paterson against Ireland. Paterson's neck injury keeps him out.
According to their forwards coach Hugh Campbell Argentina's scrummage is "the best in the world" and few who played for Scotland A on Wednesday evening will argue.
Despite weighing in lighter, the Argentina A scrum twice scored pushover tries and twice won penalty tries after the Scottish pack was forced to collapse. Scotland A still managed a morale-boosting win.
The only other change sees John Steel make way on the wing for his 6ft 4in Glasgow team-mate Roland Reid, who had 10 minutes of action against Tonga and scored with his first touch of the ball.
