Tullamore will have two teams in the field of 39 when they defend their Leinster Inter-Club Pitch and Putt title at Glenville on Sunday next. The local club, however, will take some beating with seven teams, the strongest of which should be that of Philip Byrne, Bertie Byrne and John Cullen in this three person 36 holes versus par event. Cullen and Philip Byrne were members of the Glenville team that placed second in the National Mixed team tournament last year. Another solid looking Glenville team is that of Brian Dunne, Eugene O'Neill and Terry Dumin.

Loughlinstown will have three champions on one of their four teams in the event. Hubert Kelly, the 1999 All-Ireland strokeplay champion, Tommy Mason, the 1994 Intermediate champion and Terence O'Donnell, the 1999 All-Ireland Intermediate champion form one combination while the 1999 winners of Paddy Kelly, Gary Healy and Eoin Mithen will be looking for a repeat.
