Jason Titley has enjoyed a profitable season so far and yesterday at Tramore he brought his seasonal score to 26 after recording a 40 to 1 treble. First to strike for Titley was Pat Flynn's Right Job, who gained an overdue success over jumps when justifying favouritism in the opening Paddy Kirwan Maiden Hurdle.
"My horses are in terrific form and I'm looking forward to a good year in 2000," said the winning trainer afterwards.
Favourite backers got it right again in the Granville Hotel Handicap Hurdle when 4 to 1 chance Gallaher's Walk obliged for Titley and Donie Hassett. Titley then teamed up with Edward O'Grady's The Cushroad to scoop the Waterford Castle Rated Hurdle.
Punters hearts missed a beat here when the the four-year-old veered violently towards the stands rail, but Titley soon got the situation under control to hold off Reggae Rhytym by a length and a half.
Paul Carberry was seen at his brilliant best in the handicap chase aboard The Bongo Man. After making a terrible blunder at the fourth fence, it looked all over for Tony Mullins's gelding but the Meathman staged a miraculous recovery to land the spoils.
Then Carberry, who jumped the fifth fence at the rear of the field with no reins or irons, got his mount back on an even keel to score from Wolseley Lord.
