Just as Jim Furyk was among the best players never to have won a major until last week, so John Timony was among the best managers never to have won a Golf Masters fourball.
Timony is a two-handicapper who has previously qualified for the matchplay stages of the West of Ireland and made the cut at the East of Ireland.
With such a golfing pedigree it is perhaps surprising that the Headfort member has only once made the short trip to test his skills at The K-Club. Once is about to become twice as Timony scooped our weekly prize with his Terriers 1 selection.
Even though four of his players didn't qualify for the US Open, the Terriers amassed €392,000 thanks to the double money won by Jim Furyk, Mike Weir and Billy Mayfair.
Timony's Terriers proved fiercer that Pat Mullarkey's Tiger Cubs who were solid if not spectacular in retaining the overall lead.
It would have been very different if Mullarkey hadn't ditched Stephen Leaney and Mike Weir a fortnight ago in order to hire Thomas Bjorn and Darren Clarke.
Bjorn missed the British Masters when he cut his hand with a knife and at Olympia Fields he just missed the cut altogether.
Clarke faded with a final round 75 meaning that Mullarkey's little transaction has so far cost him two precious transfers and €222,000.
David Gorman's Mary remain in second place overall and Colin O'Doherty's Jenny's Winners 8 have leapt from 49th to third with week 13 earnings of €350,000.
O'Doherty is one of 27 managers who brought in Furyk last week. A few more transfers like that and he could soon be in top spot.
