Marian College reached the semi-final of the Senior Cup, Section A in a tightly-contested game at Green Road.

They went ahead when Albert Allen, taking a pass from scrum-half Ivan Ferris following a five-metre scrum, went over for a try. Glen Trehy's conversion gave them a 7-0 interval advantage.

However, Wilson's Hospital showed considerable drive in the second period and kept play well inside the Marian half for most of the rest of the game. Their consistent pressure was rewarded with a series of scrums near the line, but excellent defending by Marian kept them scoreless. An injury-time penalty by Allen ensured there was no way back for Wilson's.
