LEINSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP: Terenure College 26 Kilkenny College 7:FROM THE outset, it looked as though Terenure College and Blackrock were destined for a semi-final showdown and so it came to pass with Terenure's win over Kilkenny College yesterday.
Outhalf Danny McCormack landed a third-minute penalty and wing Philip Smith crossed for a try in the 11th minute. Kilkenny settled into their defensive patterns, restricting flankers Matt Hayes and Harrison Brewer, the son of Scotland forwards coach Mike, to tries either side of the break.
Kilkenny struggled to deal with the Terenure pack despite the best efforts of Ross Deacon and Shane Delahunt. Kilkenny managed a try through fullback Richard Nicholls. Jeremy Duncan converted.
It was the signal for Terenure to spring back into life. Lock Adam Somerville crossed for a try in the 50th minute and replacement Colin Jones landed a penalty.
