Mount Temple powered to the next round when they proved too strong for Wexford CBS at Kilkenny. Not even 13 points from outhalf Barry Walsh could save a brave Wexford side.
Mount Temple led 5-3 at halftime thanks to a try from Donal Mullins. John Raffey got a touchdown early in the second half, and Shane Finnegan converted. Minutes later, Finnegan kicked a penalty for a 15-3 lead. Walsh then scored two tries for Wexford, but one in reply from Brian Taylor earned Mount Temple the win.
