What's with the name?: It cost $41million (Aus) to build.

Double Dutch: The enclosed building covers 11,000 square metres. The metal decked roof holds glazed central highlights, equipped with light-controlled louvres to optimise natural lighting and eliminate shadows on the track.

Meaning?: The sun shines through the roof.

Spectators: The surrounding track has 3,000 permanent seats, designed to provide the best possible sight lines. During the Games, seating will increase to accommodate up to 6,000 spectators.

Many faces: The infield can be configured for other sports, such as basketball and badminton and for trade shows, exhibitions and banquets.

The Greatest: The velodrome will be named after Dunc Gray, who won Australia's first cycling gold medal at Los Angeles in 1932. Not to be confused with Dunkin' Doughnuts, Slam Dunc or Donk, the noise a bike makes when it crashes.
