A cricketer with Sussex has failed a random drug test, officials at Lord's said yesterday. The name of the player has not been revealed because results of tests on a backup sample have not yet been received.
Two urine samples are routinely taken at random testing in county cricket, and the player concerned was chosen to produce the samples during Sussex's championship match against Kent at Tunbridge Wells in late May.
The Test and County Cricket Board are also waiting for this second result, and will be setting up a doping control panel to investigate the matter.
