SUNDAY'S WELL: 19, BOHEMIANS: 18.

Michael Benson has rescued Young Munster on more than one occasion in the past

Michael Benson has rescued Young Munster on more than one occasion in the past. But on Saturday at Musgrave Park with new club Bohemians he was unable to do the same.

His injury-time drop goal attempt whizzed to the left and wide, and Sunday's Well were relieved to survive to the second round of the Munster Senior Cup.

A try from John Downey, a conversion from Benson and a drop goal from Mark Everitt had Bohemians 10 points up as half-time approached. But tries from John O'Neill and Sean McCahill as well as a penalty from Conor Burke gave Sunday's Well a flattering interval lead.

Downey went over for a second try and the remainder of the scores came from kicks. Burke kicked two for the winners and Benson one for Bohemians, who launched a late offensive when Sunday's Well were reduced to 14 men after the dismissal of second row Ken Roche and an injury which forced former international Ken O'Connell from the field.
