The World Cup's top goal scorer, Davor Suker, spoke out in Madrid last Monday about his concern for his future at Real Madrid. The Croatian striker, who netted six goals at France 98, is upset that he only played for less than half of last Sunday's game against Real Sociedad.

The 30-year-old said: "I don't want to go. But if this continues I'll have to sit down with club president Lorenzo Sanz and find a solution. I'm no longer 20, I've nothing left to prove. I am the `Pichichi' (Spanish for top scorer) at the World Cup. And even so, it's obvious that the trainer doesn't have confidence in me."

If Suker does want to leave Real Madrid there is a small matter he first has to address, an incentive if you like. He can expect to face a $140 million penalty for early termination of his contract which expires in 2000.
