St Michael's College 20 CBC Monkstown 0 ST MICHEAL'S College overpowered CBC Monkstown in their Leinster Schools' Junior Cup first-round tie at Donnybrook yesterday afternoon.
Richie Lynch scored two tries while Dan Leavy and Rory Kavanagh also crossed the line in the emphatic win.
St Michael’s took the lead on 22 minutes when Lynch touched down. Kavanagh had the opportunity to put St Michael’s three further points ahead, but again his kicking let him down and his effort went wide leaving St Michael’s 5-0 ahead at the break.
They doubled that advantage on 32 with a superb try from Leavy who powered through the Monkstown challenge to bundle the ball over in the corner. However, Kavanagh was again having no luck with his kicking and he failed to even find the distance with his conversion.
Lynch then crossed to give St Michael’s a 15-0 lead on 50 minutes but it was the same story for Kavanagh as he missed his conversion.
He made up for it on 56 minutes with a brilliant individual try, touching down in the corner.
