St Galls 1-11 Carrickmore 0-8: Antrim champions St Gall's brushed aside the absence of their captain and centre-back Seán Kelly to surprise Tyrone champions Carrickmore in yesterday's quarter-final at Casement Park. Karl Stewart rifled over a point after just 30 seconds and then hit a goal after four minutes. That goal proved the launching pad for St Gall's deserved success.
A couple of pointed frees by Seán Burns left the city side 1-3 to 0-3 ahead after 16 minutes but they didn't score again until after the interval. Carrickmore managed just two more points - from Pearse Cunningham and Peter Loughran - to leave the half-time tally at St Gall's 1-3, Carrickmore 0-5.
Andrew McLean fired over a point for the winners and even though Conor Gormley wiped out that score it was St Gall's who slipped into gear.
