Simon Behan ruled the boards at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght yesterday as St Fintan's, Sutton beat Marian College to capture the All Ireland Schoolboys' A Cup.

It was Marian's second successive defeat in the finals and for schools international Kevin Meaney it proved particularly hard.

Meaney, who twisted an ankle in last year's final, was instrumental in bringing Marian back into the game yesterday as St Fintan's dominated the early proceedings. Indeed, Meaney's five baskets from the free-throw line saw Marian take up the initiative early in the second half.

But Behan, despite being dangerously close to being fouled out of the game, proved the man in form with a tally of 41 points helping him to yet another trophy - Behan tasted success in the under-19 Sprite Cup for Killester two weeks ago.
