ALL-IRELAND COLLEGES FOOTBALL SF A FINAL/St Colman's, Newry 1-18 St Brendan's, Killarney 3-5:ST COLMAN'S, Newry, lifted the Hogan Cup at Croke Park on Saturday when they were winners over St Brendan's, Killarney.
Chris Clarke hit five first-half points for St Colman’s, but despite playing second fiddle for most of the half the Kerry lads got back into contention when David O’Sullivan converted a penalty.
St Colman’s led 0-9 to 1-1 at halftime and in the 51st minute St Brendan’s were awarded another penalty and O’Sullivan dispatched the ball to the net but the Newry lads didn’t panic. Three minutes later they got a spot kick of their own and even though Ross McGarry’s attempt was saved Shay McCartan scored from the rebound.
With a minute left to play Thomas Moriarty got St Brendan’s third goal but at that stage it was only of academic value.
