ST CIARAN'S, Kells made it to the next round despite the fact that Gorey CS had a superior weight advantage in the pack and dominated for large periods of the game.
But it was the more spritely looking Kells outfit who triumphed in the end by virtue of three tries and a Kieran Hanlon conversion. The first of the tries arrived after just five minutes with number eight Aidan McEntee squeezing over in the corner.
By the break Gorey had reduced the arrears to just two points with Lyndon Jones knocking over a penalty from a difficult angle.
However, Gorey's challenge soon crumbled with successive scores from David Callaghan and David Brecknell increasing Kells lead and although Gorey managed to stop the rot through a converted Jer Kehoe try, it was too little too late for the Wexford side.
