THREE ROCK ROVERS hit seven goals against the hapless St Brendan's/Phoenix Park at the Aer Lingus grounds to ensure that the home side remained firmly rooted to the bottom of the Leinster Senior League.

In the process Rovers also raised their goal scoring average to an impressive four a game, hitting 64 in just 16 matches. The Grange Road side now top the table on 24 points, but Pembroke, who are two points behind, also have two matches in hand.

Rover's German visitor Uli Moiffi netted three goals, including two penalties, while Robin Madeley added two more and Alan Bothwell and Christian Judd grabbed one each.

At Parka Avenue, Avoca played themselves out of league contention completely when they surrendered a goal lead to Railway Union to draw 1-1. Rory Kirwan hit Avoca's only score before the home side snatched one back through Stephen Moulton.
