THE Irish squad and their home matches for the next three seasons will he sponsored by Irish Permanent PLC.

They took over the match sponsorship from Digital Equipment three years ago and subsequently also came in to sponsor the playing squad. I understand the value of the renewed sponsorship is in the region of £1 million.

Embraced in the terms of the deal is that the training kit and the Ireland jersey carry the sponsor's name.
