SPORTS DIGEST - CRICKET:South Africa will stage this year's Champions Trophy one-day tournament in September and October, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said yesterday.
The ICC executive board made a “unanimous” decision in a teleconference after its executive committee made the recommendation last week.

The Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg and Centurion in Pretoria were identified as the preferred venues, subject to the conclusion of satisfactory commercial terms, an ICC release said.
Ryder role for Olazabal
GOLF:Jose Maria Olazabal has agreed to be a 2010 Ryder Cup vice-captain if he fails to play his way into the team, skipper Colin Montgomerie said yesterday. "He has said to me he will want to try and play in that team. If not, he has accepted . . . he will be part of the backroom staff. He would be my number one choice (as vice-captain). Ollie is the one guy I have always wanted, believe it or not, ever since we first met back in the 1984 British Amateur final."
Calzaghe wins 'fight' with Warren
BOXING: Former world champion Joe Calzaghe won a High Court fight with Frank Warren yesterday when his ex-manager was ordered to pay him around €2 million.
Calzaghe, who retired this year as undefeated world super-middleweight champion, had said he was owed the money in unpaid fees from Warren who was also his former promoter.
Warren had said the boxer owed his Sports Network company over €1 million for breaking a verbal contract for one more fight but Justice Wyn Williams dismissed his claim.
Mr Justice Wyn Williams dismissed Mr Warren’s claim and ruled he should pay Calzaghe around €2 million in unpaid fees.
“I am relieved and delighted at the court’s decision,” said Calzaghe. “It totally vindicates what has been my stance throughout. “The fight with Frank Warren was not one I sought but I am delighted to have remained undefeated through it.”
