Republic of Ireland striker Keith O'Neill has been transfer-listed by Norwich.

The 22-year-old Dublin-born star is sure to attract massive interest from the Premiership after both player and club concluded there was no chance of reaching agreement over a new contract.

O'Neill has been out of action since suffering an injury during the Ireland's Euro 2000 victory over Croatia last month but is expecting a return to action within the next couple of weeks.

Norwich manager Bruce Rioch said he would be disappointed to lose O'Neill but with contract talks going nowhere the club had little alternative.

There was bad and good news for Arsenal in the latest fall-out from their explosive Premiership clash with Sheffield Wednesday - Patrick Vieira has been charged with misconduct but Martin Keown escaped a three-match ban for his red card.

The English Football Association charged Vieira after studying a police report into his behaviour at the end of the Hillsborough match on September 26th.

Keown was sent off in the same game for his part in an incident which ended with Wednesday's Italian striker Paolo Di Canio pushing referee Paul Alcock to the ground. He has been let off a three-match ban - although, bizarrely, the red card he received will remain on the England defender's disciplinary record.

Swedish international Johan Mjallby looks set to become George Graham's first signing at Tottenham, according to reports in Sweden. The 27-year-old AIK Solna midfielder, who scored the winner in England's 2-1 defeat in Stockholm last month, would cost Spurs around £3 million.

Leicester City's manager Martin O'Neill may resign today if he is denied permission to talk to Leeds United about the vacancy at Elland Road.

O'Neill is expected to attend a specially convened meeting of the Leicester board this morning and if his request is again turned down he is likely to walk out of the club. If O'Neill does opt for resignation as the swiftest route to his installation at Elland Road, he will be breaking the code of conduct drawn up by the League Managers' Association to govern the behaviour of managers targeted by other clubs.

Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium will stage this season's European Cup final on May 26th, UEFA announced yesterday. The UEFA Cup final will be held at the Luz Hniki stadium in Moscow on May 12th while Villa Park, will be the venue for the European Cup Winners' Cup final on May 19th.
