Today's other stories in brief
Bolton roll out the reserves
Bolton manager Gary Megson has made no apologies for heading out to Lisbon with a second-string side.
With Premier League survival the number one priority for Megson, the squad that travelled for the second leg of the Uefa Cup last-16 tie was shorn of a number of stars.
Captain Kevin Nolan and Jussi Jaaskelainen missed last week's 1-1 first-leg draw at the Reebok Stadium with back injuries and were among those who did not travel.
They were joined by Kevin Davies, Matt Taylor, Andy O'Brien, Ivan Campo, El Hadji Diouf and Ricardo Gardner, while Gavin McCann is suspended and Tamir Cohen, Grzegorz Raziak and Gretar Steinsson are ineligible.
Sporting Lisbon coach Paulo Bento is certain to be surprised when he sees the line-up for the game, with a place in the last eight still in the balance.
But Megson is far more concerned about Sunday's relegation showdown at Wigan.
Limerick on track to retain title
Three second-half goals kept Limerick CBS on track to retain their All-Ireland Schools' Senior Cup title. At a wet and windy Athlone IT they remained deadlocked with St Mary's Galway in the semi-final until Eoin Hanrahan's opening goal on 55 minutes.
Three minutes later Kevin Barry doubled the holders' lead when he bundled home from close range.
The Galway side reduced the lead with 20 minutes to play through Brian Warde.
Barry's second goal 10 minutes from time ensured Limerick CBS progressed to the April 9th final.
Salesian College Celbridge face Deele College of Donegal in this afternoon's second semi-final.
LIMERICK CBS: Collopy, Allen, B Mullins, Collins, R Mullins, Hughes, Richardson, Clarke, Hanrahan, Barry, McMarlow. Sub: Mullen for Allen (85 mins).
ST MARY'S, GALWAY: Coughlan, Ryan, Gaughan, O'Carroll, Ellwood, Lomboto, Mangan, Dwuane, Cheevers, Grant, Holland. Subs: Warde for Mangan, O'Carroll for Grant (62 mins); Wynne for Holland (79 mins).
Mancini reverses decision to quit at end of the season
Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini has reversed his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
Mancini announced his intention to quit the Nerazzurri in the summer in the aftermath of Inter's Champions League defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night, despite having four years left on his contract.
It was thought president Massimo Moratti would discuss the situation with Mancini today but talks have already taken place with former Lazio boss Mancini performing a dramatic U-turn.
It was believed yesterday that if Mancini did go Inter had earmarked Jose Mourinho as their primary target to replace him.
Mourinho, who left Stamford Bridge in September, expects to return to football at "a top-flight European club" in the summer, and the Italian champions were expected to sound him out over taking up the reins at San Siro.Rangers manager Walter Smith must decide who leads the attack in tonight's Uefa Cup last-16 second leg against Werder Bremen.
Rangers short of attacking options
Rangers take a 2-0 lead to Germany but Daniel Cousin (broken jaw) and Jean-Claude Darcheville (Achilles) are out of the clash, while Lee McCulloch (thigh) is doubtful.
Smith could select Kris Boyd, Steven Naismith or Nacho Novo if McCulloch is ruled out, with Rangers likely to play just one frontman.
In defence, Smith must choose between Sasa Papac and Steven Whittaker for the left back role.
"At Ibrox they attacked at every opportunity. They have a reputation of being a tough home team. We know we are in for a very tough evening defensively," said Smith yesterday.
Scoreless Celtic
Celtic failed to put real pressure on Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers by drawing a blank against Dundee United at Parkhead last night.
Shunsuke Nakamura and Scott Brown hit the woodwork in the first half before United midfielder Craig Conway missed a sitter from six yards.
Celtic failed to score despite dominating leaving the Ibrox club three points ahead - and with a game in hand.
