NO DECISION has yet been taken on whether Michelle Smith will compete in the European swimming championship at Seville in August.

Speaking at a reception in Dublin yesterday, her husband-coach Erik de Bruin said that they were still keeping all their options open.

"Michelle's preparations are going well but at this point it is still too soon to state for certain that she will compete in Spain," he said. "She has set herself the highest standards and we have to be certain that she is swimming well enough to win titles, before finalising our plans."
