MAINTAINING their policy of bringing in ambitious young managers from across the Irish Sea, the Sligo Rovers board of directors will conduct a final round of interviews with a short list of four of five this week.

Among those believed to be in contention are the former Torquay manager Don O'Riordan, the former Arsenal and once capped English goalkeeper Jimmy Rimmer and the former Cork City midfielder Gerry McCabe (now on Glasgow Celtic's coaching staff).

O'Riordan, the favourite, has had a 25 year playing and coaching career in England, having left Ireland in 1972 when he was signed by Brian Clough at Derby County. He took over a Torquay in 1993 but was dismissed two years later. He currently plays with Gloucester.
