Sligo Rovers 5 Bray Wanderers 1:BRAY WANDERERS manager Eddie Gormley sees light at the end of the tunnel despite his side's heavy defeat at the Showgrounds on Saturday night.

Gormley said he was “very, very disappointed with our first-half defending which was very poor”.

Adding: “If you defend like we did in the first half you’re going to get punished. The lads could easily have thrown in the towel when Sligo went five up but they kept going which gives me hope for the future.”

Hesitancy in clearing the danger allowed Pádraig Amond to drill a Joseph Ndo corner to the visitors net after nine minutes of the first half. And it got worse for Bray after 22 minutes when Eoin Doyle broke through their defence before doubling Sligo’s advantage.

Poor defending again let John Russell in for Sligo’s third on 40 minutes and it was game over a couple of minutes later when a kick-out by Sligo goalkeeper Richard Brush was helped on by Doyle who set Amond up for his second.

Bray were caught napping again in the 51st minute when Ndo scored.

John Mulroy’s untiring efforts over the 90 minutes were rewarded two minutes from time when he clipped the ball inside Brush’s right-hand post.

Sligo manager boss Paul Cooke said he felt his side were finally “getting the rub of the green” and playing better.
