SLIGO ROVERS snatched a dramatic victory against UCD at the Showgrounds on Saturday night, thanks to a late strike by Padraig Moran.

Moran latched on to a pass from the lively James Mulligan in the 84th minute and slammed the ball past the advancing Seamus Kelly for a dramatic winner.

It was rough justice on UCD who had snatched a deserved equaliser just two minutes earlier when Robert Griffin scored with an angled drive from the edge of the area, following good work by substitute Stephen Costello.

Sligo got a dream start with the lead goal after just three minutes. A short free by Moran gave Darren Grogan the opportunity to blast a 25 yard drive to the roof of the net. But it was UCD who produced the more inventive football and their efforts were finally rewarded when Griffin got through for an equaliser with just nine minutes remaining.
