AIRTRICITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Galway United 0 Sligo Rovers 8:SLIGO ROVERS sent out an emphatic message to their title rivals at Terryland Park last night.

Sligo had never won two consecutive league fixtures at the Galway venue but they followed up their win here in April with a demolition of the league’s bottom side in front of 1,033 spectators.

It took them just five minutes to score, Joseph Ndo’s delicate clip finding Eoin Doyle, who held off Stephen Walsh to fire past Conor Winn for his 15th league goal of the season. They doubled their lead in the 16th minute, Richie Ryan’s piledriver from the edge of the box taking a deflection to deceive Conor Winn. Raffael Cretaro hit the third in the 34th minute when Matthew Blinkhorn sent his strike partner clear.

United were reduced to 10 men in the 36th minute when Eduardo Dusi was dismissed, and the visitors were quick to make their numerical advantage count, Blinkhorn finding the net in the 39th and 44th minute for a 5-0 lead at the break.
