CONNACHT SENIOR CUP SEMI-FINAL/Sligo Grammar 15 Garbally College 13:SLIGO GRAMMAR School booked their place in the Connacht Senior Cup final with a hard-earned two-point win over Garbally College at the Grammar School grounds yesterday.
A badly cut-up pitch proved unsuitable to a running game but in spite of this both sides managed some free-flowing moves.
Jason McGoldrick went over in the corner for a morale-boosting try for the home side after seven minutes of the first half, with Colm Egan adding the conversion to give his side the perfect start.
However, Ross Keller was on target with a penalty goal for Garbally two minutes later and then scrumhalf David Murray gave his side a foothold in the game eight minutes before half-time with a well-worked try, touched down in the corner.
Keller was successful with the conversion from a difficult angle as the visitors led 10-7 at the break.
Garbally looked to be heading for victory when Keller split the posts again. But an Egan penalty moved Grammar to within striking distance and then skipper Thomas Ferrari drove over for the match-winning try.
