A TRY by Tony Giles enabled Skerries to get the better of Greystones in an absorbing Leinster Senior Cup quarter-final replay at Dr Hickey Park.

The visitors were troubled by an early second-half score by Greystones full-back Wayne Robertson but were full value for their win over the 80 minutes.

Out-half Jimmy Dempsey gave Skerries a half-time lead with three well struck penalties while Greystones winger David Nolan was successful from only one of several attempts.

New Zealander Robertson completed an admirable move by the Wick low side, with Nolan converting, to give them the lead shortly after half-time but Skerries recovered and piled on the pressure once more.

The Greystones line was finally breached by Giles after 72 minutes and Dempsey sealed the win with a late penalty.

Neil Jenkins and Paul Grayson, the two top kickers in Britain, confirmed their fitness for the Lions tour of South Africa which starts in two weeks when they joined in specialist goal-kicking practice at Northampton yesterday.

Jenkins broke his left arm playing for Wales against England on March 15th, while Grayson missed that match with a hip muscle injury.

After a session with Lions kicking coach Dave Alred, Jenkins said: "This is the first time I have even attempted to catch a ball since busting my arm and I have not attempted any goal kicking."
