GAELIC GAMES:GOALKEEPER JAMES Skehill and forward Kerril Wade have been recalled to the Galway hurling squad as they prepare for the Leinster championship.
Skehill, released from the squad last December, and Wade, who last featured in the championship three years ago, have been called into what manager John McIntyre has stressed is still a training panel rather than championship squad.
Forward James Regan, an All-Ireland minor winner two years ago, has also been drafted in as Galway begin the countdown to their opener against either Carlow or Westmeath on June 4th.
Five players – goalkeeper John Grealish, defender David Hayes, midfielder Niall Cahalan and forwards Joseph Cooney and Brian Murphy – have been released.
“We’re training five times this week and then there is a round of club games the weekend after next when players will have an opportunity to make a claim,” said McIntyre.
Meanwhile, All Star nominee David Kelly has been ruled out of Sligo’s Connacht SFC opener against Leitrim on Sunday week.
The 23-year old attacker is recovering from surgery after a troublesome ankle injury.
