ILHU Administrator Irene Johnston won the turkey competition at Foxrock with a very respectable return of 36 stableford points off a 14 handicap. Johnston was president of the ILHU when the world cup was staged in Dublin in 1994 and the chairperson of the organising committee for that event, Joan Priestman, took the week's Class Two honours in the singles competition at Milltown.

It seems that golf and hockey mix well, as the Leinster Branch of the Hockey Union hosts an annual outing for players who are members of clubs in both codes. Four of those who got the ball rolling in 1949 were present at this year's 50th anniversary dinner - Pat Bourke (Maids/Milltown), Joan O'Reilly (Muckross/Grange), Mary Reville (Muckross/Grange) and Maureen Walsh (Pembroke/Woodbrook).
