Digest/ US PGA TOUR: Vijay Singh edged toward his 32nd PGA Tour title by moving two strokes clear midway through yesterday's final round at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Tied for the lead overnight with American Dudley Hart, former champion Singh birdied three of the first six holes on the Pebble Beach Golf Links before reaching the turn in four-under 32.
That left him at 13 under overall in ideal scoring conditions on the Monterey Peninsula, ahead of second-placed American Steve Lowery, who reeled off five birdies on the outward nine.
South Korea's Yang Yong-eun was a further three strokes back at eight under in a tie for third with Hart, who was one over for the round.
Padraig Harrington had four birdies and four bogeys in a level-par 72 to finish the tournament on four under par. That left the Dubliner in a tie for 16th place.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Des Smyth shot a level-par 72 in the third and final round of the Allianz Championship course to finish on five under par at the Old Course at Broken Sound, in Boca Raton, Florida.
That left him nine shots behind winner Scott Hoch, who closed with a 68 to finish on 14 under and pip Bart Bryant, who fired a 66, by a shot.
LET TOUR: Lisa Hall's numbers came up again as she fired a six-under-par 66 to take a one-stroke victory at the ANZ Ladies Masters in Australia.
The Englishwoman came from one stroke behind the three overnight leaders Shin Hyun-ju, Tamie Durdin and defending champion Karrie Webb to post a three-round winning total of 13-under-par 203.
Ireland's Rebecca Coakley closed with a 75 to finish well down the field.
SUNSHINE TOUR: Pretoria pro Shaun Norris shot a four-under-par 68 to claim his maiden victory in the inaugural Africa Open at the Fish River Sun course in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape yesterday.
