FOUR-TIMES British champion Ian Simpson broke lap and speed records as he charged to a brilliant maiden Isle of Man TT victory yesterday.
The 29-year-old notched an incredible second lap of 119.86 mph on his Honda to surge well clear of the field in the Supersport 600 Junior TT.
Simpson stretched his advantage over Phillip McCallen to half a minute as he finished the race in a record average speed of 118.41 mph.
Earlier, Cardiffs Ian Lougheri snatched a dramatic last-lap victory in the four-lap 125cc ultra lightweight TT.
Ulsterman Denis McCullough, grabbed the initiative going into the final 13 miles, opening up a' two-second advantage at Ramsey.
However, rougher upped the power over the mountain, smashing the lap record to win by two seconds.
McCullough was a comfortable second ahead of Robert Dunlop, who was in the TT for the first time since his horrific crash in 1994 at Ballaugh Bridge.
