Galway United recorded their second successive draw of the campaign at Terryland Park last night.
A crowd of 2,000 saw Galway dominate the early proceedings and after five minutes Gerry Boyle's back pass to the visitors' goalkeeper Gareth Byrne was chased by the in-rushing Ollie Keogh, whose effort on goal went wide.
On 15 minutes, Drogheda took the lead when Colm Murphy sent over a cross from the right into the Galway United area, which was picked up by the unmarked 21-year-old Damian Maher, who from 10 yards right-footed the ball into the United net, past Eddie Hickey.
One minute later, the visitors could have increased their lead when John Butler floated in a cross from the right, however Mark Revins sent his header over the Galway crossbar.
Midway through the opening half, the home side's Gareth Gorman set up Eric Lavine; but Byrne was alert to danger.
On 54 minutes Galway, who had started the second half briskly, equalised when Aubrey Dolan found Ollie Keogh and he scored from 16 yards for his second league goal of this season.
Galway continued to dominate the last few minutes of play which included five minutes of injury time; and near the end Fergal Coleman the ex-Galway United player, saw his chance just slip away.
