Javier Saviola struck twice in the second half as Barcelona came back to claim a 2-2 draw at home to a Galatasaray side who finished last night's group B game with nine men.
Barcelona could find none of the free-flowing football that had been so impressive in their 3-1 win at Liverpool as Galatasaray dominated the first 45 minutes.
Umit Karan was credited with heading the opening goal on five minutes, although Patrik Andersson may have supplied the final touch. Andres Fleurquin made it 2-0 after 41 minutes as he touched in the rebound after Umit's header was saved.
The introduction of substitutes Marc Overmars and Gerard at half-time changed the game in Barca's favour, with the pair finally giving the home side momentum in midfield.
Saviola pulled one back on 49 minutes and, after Capone had been sent off for a late challenge on Rivaldo on 62 minutes, the Argentine striker levelled the scores with a second close-range strike.
Hakan Unsal was the second Galatasaray player to be sent off as he received a second yellow card in the dying seconds.
Paulo Sergio's second-half goal gave defending champions Bayern Munich all three points against Nantes at La Beaujoire.
Nantes failed to turn their dominance into goals and Brazilian Sergio scored the winner when he headed Owen Hargreaves' cross past Mickael Landreau in the 65th minute. The result left Nantes rooted to the bottom of Group A with no points from two games, having lost to Boavista last month.
Although the French outfit did not start the tie as favourites, they had the better of the first half. Nicolas Laspalles' cross was turned just past Bayern's left post by striker Hassan Ahamada.
Nantes almost went in front through Olivier Quint, but after evading a handful of challenges, he could not hit the target. The second half began with the hosts on top and they nearly broke the deadlock after 55 minutes. Charles Devineau crossed from the left towards Ahamada, who headed goalwards. Young goalkeeper Stefan Wessels, who was deputising for injury victim Oliver Kahn, saved it and Matthieu Berson could not turn the rebound home.
Ten minutes later, Sergio scored his second goal in eight Champions League games this season and the French outfit were facing an uphill battle.
Indeed, Bayern came closest in the dying stages, Sergio and Giovane Elber both wasting presentable opportunities.
