THE Saracens players, prop Wallace and second rows Johns, who missed their provinces European Cup tie this weekend, are included in the Leinster and Ulster sides respectively for the European Cup matches on Saturday.

Wallace and Johns had been ruled out last weekend because Saracens have a Courage League match tonight.

The inclusion of Johns for Gary Longwell is the only alteration in the Ulster team to meet Brive at Ravenhill from the side that lost ink injury time to Neath last Saturday.

Wallace comes into the Leinster side to meet Pau at Donnybrook in place of Angus McKeen. The full back berth has been kept open pending fitness reports on Ciaran Clarke and Peter McKenna. Clarke was injured against Borders last Saturday and McKenna was not considered because of injury.

The Leinster squad trained last night and it is anticipated that the selectors will fill the position this morning. If both Clarke and McKenna are ruled out, then Girvan Dempsey (Terenure College), who came on as a replacement for Clarke against Borders will play. The selectors have also left a berth vacant in the panel of replacements pending confirmation as to who will play at full back.

Ulster will not name their replacements until Thursday. With Johns playing for Saracens tonight and with London Irish playing a league match tomorrow night in which Jeremy Davidson and David Humphreys will be involved, the selectors are waiting until after those matches before finalising the replacements. "We are waiting in case any of the players are injured in the league ties before we name the replacements," said Ulster manager Ken Reid.

. Scotland director of rugby Jim Telfer fears that his country faces a cut in the number of districts competing in Europe as a result of this season's disappointing Heineken Cup performances.

Telfer is particularly concerned that Scottish sides lost several games to teams they should have beaten as a result of losing concentration.

"What disappointed me in the games I saw was that our teams folded in the later stages of matches," he said.

"We have to instill in our players that they must concentrate for the full 80 minutes, otherwise we will not compete.
