THERE is some interesting racing at Naas tomorrow highlighted by the listed Garnet Stakes, the Derrinstown Stud Birdcatcher Stakes and the Naas Handicap. The Ali Retza & Mamadi Soudavar sponsored Garnet Stakes has attracted two English-trained runners in Don't Get Caught and Tsarnista.
Successful in a recent Newmarket handicap the in-foal Don't Get Caught and Tsarnista, fourth in a Sandown handicap, are stepping up in company. Sagar Pride finished seventh in the Group Two Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp last weekend having finished a close up third in a conditions race at San Siro. The much travelled filly was touched off in a Group Two at Capanelle in April and overnight rain would not harm her prospects. I prefer her to Ceirseach and Identify.
The Birdcatcher Stakes may be won by Fairy Song, owned by Vincent O'Brien and trained by his son Charles. The speedy Fairy King filly could not get to grips with Check The Band in the listed Blenheim Stakes at the Curragh last time out, but ran a fine race to finish second. A very easy winner of her maiden over seven furlongs at Roscommon, she had previously run well to finish fourth in the valuable Tattersalls Breeders Stakes at headquarters. Aidan O'Brien's charge, Melleray, finished only a neck behind Fairy Song on that occasion and is now 4lb worse off. However, Melleray was badly drawn and subsequently failed narrowly to catch Token Gesture in the Group Three C.L. Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh. He must rate a danger to Fairy Song.
The Naas Autumn Handicap may be won by the Noel Meade trained four-year-old Hill Society who won a 10 furlong Curragh handicap with considerable ease and relegating Grief and Wood Leopard to sixth and seventh places. The selection has since won over hurdles at Listowel. Yavana's Pace, who ran well at Listowel and Meglio Che Posso are dangers in a very open race.
Difficult Times, a dour stayer and successful on fast and soft ground, may be hard to beat in the three miles Coughlan Handicap Hurdle and Acadelli, runner-up to Fairy Song at Roscommon may be good enough to land the Castlemartin Stud Maiden.
. Kim Bailey and Conor O'Dwyer cemented their new partnership with their first treble at Huntingdon yesterday.
