Dublin SFC Round-up: Five more teams booked their place in the next round of the Dublin football championship on Saturday, but Naomh Mearnog and Whitehall Colmcille will have to meet again after playing out a 0-10 to 1-7 draw at Parnell Park.
Whitehall had put themselves in the driving seat against the Portmarnock side when an Anthony Folly penalty in the 47th minute was followed up by Dara Joyce's free, which put Whitehall 1-7 to 0-7 in front.
However, Naomh Mearnog regained control with points from Darren Dempsey, Cillian O'Driscoll and the experienced Dave Storey's injury-time strike.
Neither Mearnog nor Dublin manager Paul Caffrey would have taken much comfort from the sight of senior county player Shane Ryan leaving the field early in the second half with an apparent hamstring injury.
It was a more enjoyable day at Parnell Park for another intercounty star, though, as Alan Brogan helped St Oliver Plunkett/Eoghan Ruadh to a 0-12 to 0-10 win over St Mark's.
In the first of a double-header at O'Toole Park, Round Towers Clondalkin strolled to a facile 0-16 to 0-1 win over Garda. The second contest was similarly one-sided, as St Jude's routed Naomh Maur by 1-13 to 0-3.
At the Naul, the best of two games came when Ballymun Kickhams defeated Naomh Barróg 1-11 to 0-10,while Dublin under-21 star John Coughlan top-scored for St Sylvester's with five points in their 1-9 to 0-6 victory over neighbours St Finian's of Swords.
