The Russian winners of the synchronised swimming gold medal at the European championships in Helsinki last month, Maria Kisseleva and Olga Brusnikina, have been disqualified for doping, the European Swimming League (LEN) announced yesterday. The test carried out on July 1st following the competition revealed the presence of ephedrine in the sample given by Kisseleva.
The ruling handed victory to French duo Virginie Dedieu and Myriam Migno, with Spain moving up to second and Italy third.
