The Maxol-sponsored Irish Universities swept to another runaway victory on their Australian tour to record their third successive win at Melbourne on Saturday. They scored 11 tries in all, with the UCG full back, Conor Kilroy, converting six of them. The tourists were ahead by the comfortable margin of 26-0 at half-time, with tries from Denis Finn, Alan O'Shea, who scored two, and Daragh McElligott, while Conor Kilroy kicked six conversions.
In the second period, McElligott scored two more tries to complete his hat-trick, a feat matched by the Queen's left wing Alastair Hood, who also crossed for three tries. The other second-half try-scorers were Paul Lynch and Mick O'Driscoll, and Kilroy slotted over three more conversions.
