Ireland to take on Canada at Lansdowne Road next year

Ireland will play Canada in the opening test of next year's Guinness Series, it has been confirmed.

It will be the eighth fixture between the two rugby nations and the last time the two sides met was in the opening Pool D game of this year’s World Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

The 2016 fixture will be the third time that Canada have visited Ireland having previously played at the old Lansdowne Road in 1997 and at Thomond Park Stadium in 2008.

“Canada’s performances at the recent Rugby World Cup illustrated the exciting and skilful brand of rugby that they are developing. We are delighted that we will have the opportunity to welcome Canada to the Aviva Stadium for the first time,” said IRFU CEO Philip Browne.

The game will take place on Saturday November 12th at the Aviva Stadium.
