Ruddock rumour

It just goes to show success does not secure your job

It just goes to show success does not secure your job. Swansea coach John Plumtree has just lost the position at St Helen's despite the fact that over the last four years he has been the most successful coach in Wales. Admittedly the club has been struggling a little this season in both the Celtic League and, to a much lesser extent, in the European Cup. Plumtree's departure has seen former players Paul Moriarty and Tony Clement been made responsible for team affairs.

The smart money, however, for Plumtree's long-term successor is on former coach Mike Ruddock, currently with Ebbw Vale. Ruddock still lives in Swansea and the former Leinster and Bective Rangers coach enjoyed a very production period as Swansea coach in the 1990s including leading them to victory over the Australians and also a couple of league and cup triumphs.
